Hometown: Tampa
Alma mater: Wake Forest University and Stetson University
In his own words: “Power Design, Inc. is a national electrical contracting business performing over 250 projects in more than 20 states. My father was involved in construction and development for my entire childhood, so I always appreciated the tangible and lasting characteristics of the industry. I started out in construction litigation and then migrated to the business side, mostly for the challenge and out of respect for the collaboration required to achieve the end goal.”
Charitable involvement: Power Design Inc.’s Project V5, where proceeds from recycling scrap wire is donated to employee-chosen charities, resulting in nearly $500,000 in donations just last year; Advisory Board Member, Make-a-Wish Tampa Bay
On philanthropy: “I particularly appreciate being able to see first-hand how Make-a-Wish experiences can be a game-changer, often boosting the recovery itself, but always lifting the spirits of a child who has already gone through more than they should have ever had to experience at that age.”
When I’m not in the office, you can find me… “Anywhere outdoors. Being on a boat or at the beach during the summer, in a tree stand during the fall deer season, and out west in the mountains during the winter. Of course, that’s all pending the softball schedules of my three girls!”
Philosophy: “Be a sponge. Surround yourself with smart people, and soak in all the information you can.”
Best piece of advice I’ve ever received: “Earn the trust of others, then work every day to keep it.”
What I love about Tampa: “Tampa has a small-town feel with everything you could ask for from a big city, like unique restaurants, art and theatre, theme parks and major league sports. Having grown up in North Tampa and going to school in southwest St. Petersburg, I especially appreciate the convenience of living in South Tampa now. You’re not more than 15 to 30 minutes from anything in Tampa, St. Pete or Clearwater.”
App I can’t live without: “Wunderground. Between travel and always being outdoors, we need to keep a pulse on the weather.”
