This 23-foot cast iron sculpture sits just outside the entrance to the Tampa Museum of Art. Its elongated shape and nonreflective surface have an otherworldly effect, inviting the viewer to pause and reflect. Artist Jaume Plensa believes that art in public spaces can create inclusive and transformative experiences for diverse audiences. Completed in 2014, “Laura with Bun” was originally shown as part of a solo exhibition of Plensa’s work in 2016, and a grassroots campaign led to its purchase and accession into the permanent collection of the Tampa Museum of Art.
