The Annual Celebration of Caring Gala on May 6th aims to bring Florida Medical Clinic (FMC) providers and staff, clinic friends and partners, dedicated philanthropists, and community leaders together. The Celebration of Caring – held at the Brian Glazer Family JCC – is an opportunity to forge friendships, celebrate one another and enjoy a wonderfully entertaining evening all while raising funds to build a stronger, healthier community within Hillsborough and Pasco counties. This year’s theme is “A Quest into the Possible” and will bring together over 500 attendees who are philanthropic, socially conscious, community-minded change makers all of whom are making a difference in their own way. Join some of Tampa’s leading philanthropists from dozens of organizations including among many others, Warrick Dunn Charities, Greenway Health, and the ReliaQuest Bowl.
Every day, families in our community struggle with poverty, illness, and other challenges. Children go to bed hungry and without the basic necessities for a comfortable life. Parents work tirelessly to provide for their families but often fall short. These are not just statistics or numbers on a page, these are real people with real stories and real struggles. Since 2005, and thanks to thousands of caring individuals, the Foundation of Caring has re-invested over $3.8M into 189 non-profits. In 2022, the foundation collected over 3,000 pounds of food and distributed it to local food banks. They also partnered with Oasis Opportunities and Children’s Cancer Center for their Holiday Drive and collected thousands of dollars worth of shoes, clothing, hygiene items and toys for families in need.
Despite these achievements, the need is even greater and there is so much more to do.
The Foundation of Caring’s community impact is delivered in a few ways:
- Through their carefully vetted annual competitive grant process (they partner with non-profit organizations in Hillsborough and Pasco counties to enrich lives and create immediate and ongoing positive change)
- With the support of generous donors, the FMC Foundation of Caring has fed hungry families, funded programs for at-risk children, underwritten costs of accessibility upgrades for people with disabilities, and provided safe havens for women and children who have been abused
- They also offer volunteer opportunities to clinic providers, employees, and administrators. This can be “hands-on” work at a local community agency, boosting attendance at an event as Team FMC, or raising awareness and money to meet a specific need.
A large part of the mission at the Foundation of Caring is to remove the barriers standing in the way of each individual to make the biggest possible difference they can in the world.
