Tampa Bay Sun FC Claims USL Super League Championship Title
The 2024–25 season marked the official debut of the USL Super League, and the Tampa Bay Sun FC wasted no time making history. They hosted the league’s first-ever playoff game and went on to bring home Tampa Bay’s first professional women’s sports championship. In a thrilling 1-0 victory over in-state rival Fort Lauderdale United FC, the Sun clinched the inaugural USL Super League title. The historic match took place at downtown Tampa’s Riverfront Stadium.

The Florida Aquarium is making waves once again, landing the #8 spot on USA Today’s 2025 10Best Readers’ Choice list of the nation’s top aquariums. It’s the only Florida aquarium to earn the honor this year and marks the seventh time—and fifth consecutive year—it’s been nationally recognized. The ranking highlights excellence in visitor experience, conservation and education. The recognition comes as the Aquarium celebrates its 30th anniversary.
Tampa Named the Most Relaxing City to Visit

Tampa topped the list of 50 major cities with a score of 74.2 out of 100, thanks to its mild year-round average temperature (70°F), low crime rate and abundant sunshine—averaging over 10.5 daylight hours. Tampa was followed by New Orleans, San Francisco and Miami.
$10 Million Expansion Planned for St. Pete Museum
The Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement is planning a $10 million addition. The proposed five-story, 11,300-square-foot expansion would extend from the current building, adding gallery space along the courtyard. The project, still awaiting city permits and subject to design changes, will be built by Barr & Barr Inc. and designed by Alfonso Architects, which designed the original museum.
BayCare to Create Academic Health and Research Corridor
BayCare Health System is converting a recently purchased 36-acre office park near St. Joseph’s Hospital into its new Academic Health and Research Corridor. The site will become a hub for medical research, physician training and advanced treatments as part of a new collaboration with Northwestern Medicine.
