Midtown Tampa Adds True Food Kitchen, Ben & Jerry’s
True Food Kitchen’s 40th restaurant outpost is now open at Midtown Tampa with a spacious dining room, full-service bar and outdoor patio. The brainchild of integrative medicine expert Andrew Weil, the popular national brand is known for seasonally-inspired, health-forward lunch, dinner and weekend brunch options. For dessert, head to Ben & Jerry’s, which also recently opened a Midtown location. Of note, it’s among the first Black-owned Ben and Jerry’s franchises in the country.
Tampa Riverfest Returns
After a one-year hiatus, May 6-7 marks the return of Tampa Riverfest, a family-friendly festival along the length of Tampa’s Riverwalk. Highlights include Taste of Riverwalk, TacoFest, Florida Weiner Dog Derby and a full concert series.
Water Street Tampa Opens Latest Dining and Retail Options
Water Street Tampa continues to grow, with a number of restaurants and businesses set to open during the first half of 2022. The new additions include 3 Corners Detroit-style pizza, Tampa ice cream makers Chill Bros. Scoop Shop, artisan dessert shop Hampton Chocolate Factory, healthy option Naked Farmer and two fitness studios: BODYROK and Orangetheory Fitness. Sparkman Wharf is welcoming fast-casual Asian restaurant Dang Dude and modern Japanese eatery Noble Rice into its mix.
Kenny Chesney Kicks Off Tour
Country star Kenny Chesney is another in a long list of artists scheduled to perform in Tampa after the previous years’ pandemic-related postponements. The show April 23 at Raymond James Stadium will be the first in a run of over 40 stops on his Here and Now Tour. A strong lineup of support includes Dan + Shay, Old Dominion and Carly Pearce.
Artisan Gluten-Free Bakery Comes to Tampa
Craft Kafe, a gluten-free bakery cafe with a cult following at two locations in St. Petersburg, is opening its first Tampa location this spring downtown across from the University of Tampa. Craft is known for high-quality coffee, baked goods and breakfast and lunch items like quiches, pizzas and sandwiches – all made in a fully gluten-free scratch kitchen where they mill the flour onsite.
