The 2018 Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp has begun. To get in the spirit we’re posting a FLASHBACK FEATURE. Here’s our “travel” interview with Bucs’ defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. Originally published in 2015.
Whether he’s preparing to sack the opposing quarterback for an away game or headed to One Buccaneer Place to practice and study film, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Gerald McCoy is always looking sharp. “My wife, Ebony, is my stylist,” says the 27-year-old, McCoy, who has 27 and half sacks since 2010. “Before we go anywhere, we go in the closet and we put stuff together and she makes me try it on and we go from there.”
McCoy enters his sixth season as one of the Buccaneers’ faces of the franchise and he hits the road, also in style, in his customized 2015 Rolls-Royce Wraith, in red and black, of course. Thanks to three Pro Bowl selections, McCoy signed a seven-year, $98-million extension in 2014, meaning he’ll be in Tampa for quite some time. So here are some of the personal items he always takes on the road or to game day.

“They’re both prescription glasses, but I like Ray Bans’ style. Can never go wrong with Ray Bans.”

“Gotta have Chapstick. Always have to have one of those on me.”

“I have a lot of bags, but I use the Louis Stewart one a lot. Because it’s red.”

“My favorite is Michael Jackson. Mike will get played on game day. My headphones are red because, well, I really like red.”

“Since my hair can get out of control, I have to have brushes and combs and a hair pick. My barber, Jay, he takes care of me and he’s the one who did my red patch, which I’ll keep all season.”
6. BIBLE
“My auntie gave it to me before she passed, so I always have to have it with me.”
7. MICROSOFT SURFACE
“It’s my playbook, which I’m studying as much as my bible.”
8. DEANIE’S SEAFOOD
“When we do get free time, and we go to New Orleans, I always have to go to Deanie’s. As you know, my nickname is Geraldini, or Dini. And, since its Deanie’s, I have to go there. They’ve got some pretty good food.”

“My wife bought it for me, so I take it everywhere and wear it a lot. Its smells good, I think.”
