As a boutique design firm, Elizabeth Ashley Interiors carefully selects a limited number of projects, ensuring each one receives the attention and detail it deserves. This two-story, four-bedroom home in Bayshore Beautiful, designed for a New York City couple, was one such project. Tasked with creating a cohesive aesthetic while incorporating elements from the clients’ travels, Elizabeth Riggs infused the home with warmth, sophistication and a touch of wanderlust.

One of the most striking transformations took place in the space adjacent to the dining room—now a stunning bar room. The vision? To evoke the ambiance of a swanky NYC cocktail lounge. Floating shelves and sconces were added above a statement-making buffet, while large-scale artwork by one of the clients’ favorite artists, Gray Malin, became a focal point. Every detail, including a curated selection of mixology essentials, was carefully chosen to enhance the inviting, upscale vibe.

The homeowners wanted a space that reflected their lifestyle—merging their love for travel with their passion for entertaining. With ample seating and an effortless flow, the home is designed for gathering family and friends in style.

A palette of warm neutrals sets the tone throughout, striking the perfect balance between laid-back comfort and refined elegance. Soft, earthy hues are layered with rich textures, adding depth and warmth to every room. Riggs also embraced the art of contrast, skillfully blending metals with wood and modern elements with traditional details, resulting in a timeless yet contemporary aesthetic.

Fluted (or reeded) furniture accents—one of today’s most sought-after design trends—are thoughtfully integrated throughout the home. “They’re having a huge moment, and I’m all for it,” says Riggs. A striking fluted console in the bar room immediately draws the eye, while plush boucle accents, from the bar room sofa to the living room chairs, add texture and an inviting touch.

When clients trust the vision, design truly comes to life. In this home, every space transitions seamlessly, creating a sense of cohesion and effortless sophistication—proof that thoughtful design is always in style.

The living room flows into the kitchen and dining areas, with a sliding glass door to the pool deck as its highlight, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living. The living room showcases a curated mix of textures and neutral tones. A coffee table, two accent chairs, a white side table with a white vase, and two ottomans—all from Four Hands—anchor the space. A Serena & Lily tray sits atop the coffee table, while a Jaipur rug adds warmth underfoot. A planter with a tree from Pottery Barn fills the corner, complementing the white brick fireplace. Square pillows from The Citizenry and a circular accent pillow from McGee & Co. adorn the couch, while boucle accents on the chairs enhance the room’s cozy sophistication.
Elegant details bring warmth to this kitchen, where Visual Comfort pendants illuminate the space. Stools from Brownstone Furniture offer stylish seating, while a Serena & Lily tray and Afloral stems add the perfect finishing touches.
This New York-style lounge room stands out as one of Riggs’s greatest successes, with every detail thoughtfully chosen to create a purposeful, intentional space. The chairs, inspired by Sandra Bullock’s loft and sourced from Uttermost, bring elegance, while the Rowe Furniture ottoman and Arhaus console buffet offer warmth and function. Pottery Barn’s floating shelves, sconces, curtain hardware and curtains complete the design and a Jaipur rug adds texture to the room.
The master bedroom exudes serene sophistication with a Brownstone Furniture bench at the foot of the bed, while Pottery Barn light fixtures and a matching rug set the tone. Above the bed, art by Aileen Fitzgerald adds a personal touch, and the side table from Four Hands completes the space with timeless elegance.
This dresser in the primary bedroom is from McGee & Co., and the stems are from Afloral.
