Google “German precision,” and you’ll probably see a picture of Robert Farkas’ 1973 BMW 3.0 CSi Alpina. Farkas acquired it in Holland last year, and it’s identical to one driven by Chris Evans in the movie “Knives Out.” (His previous BMW Z3 was the same as James Bond’s in “GoldenEye” — but without rockets!)
The engine is a 3-liter inline-six, and the CSi designation means fuel-injected, punching out 200 hp through a five-speed gearbox. It’s also one of just 2,741 built. Alpina indicates it was handcrafted by BMW’s luxury-performance division.
A financial adviser, Farkas drives it sparingly but plans to use it more often. “It’s just a pleasure to drive,” he says, “and you can shift it with two fingers.”
Other cars in his garage include a Swedish electric Polestar 2 and a Bullitt-green ’67 Mustang. Next? He has his eye on a replica of the “Back to the Future” DeLorean. Another movie car. Surprise.
