This year, we invited readers to nominate their pets in the search for Tampa Bay’s Most Paw-some Pet. We received 35 entries — from big dogs to tiny pups and even a few felines — then turned the voting over to you.
After two weeks and countless votes, the results are in. Meet the top three pets who earned the crown.
First Place: Asher

Asher is a 1.5-year-old rescue pup living in St. Petersburg who was adopted on December 14, 2024, after being found abandoned in a warehouse and given a second chance by a local rescue.
At home, he’s a devoted cuddle bug who loves belly rubs and offers gentle “nose boops” in exchange for treats.
Nicknamed “The Flossing Doggie™,” Asher happily lets his mom, a former dental hygienist, floss his teeth. His Instagram fame through @lil.mr.asher showcases his signature ASMR snack-munching on crunchy lettuce and apples. When he’s not playing with other pups at Mutts & Martinis or making friends with neighborhood squirrel, he’s burrowed in blankets or playing with his favorite toys.
Second Place: Bama
Short for Alabama James, Bama is a three-year-old border collie–poodle mix whose story began at a taco shop in Athens, Alabama.
While on a girls’ trip, Danielle Whitener spotted a puppy and felt an instant connection — and discovering they share the same birthday sealed the deal. Now in St. Petersburg, Bama spends his days soaking up sunshine, taking long walks and playing endless games of fetch.
Third Place: Winston
Winston is a four-year-old British shorthair known for his composed demeanor and firm belief in the importance of routine. Polite, observant and quietly self-assured, Winston approaches daily life with restraint, takes naps with great seriousness and carries himself as though he expects to be consulted on household matters. He favors orderly surroundings and maintains impeccable standards, presiding over his home with calm authority.
