Salt Shack held their first Toys for Tots fundraising event on December 10. At the event, local Marines assisted in accepting toys and monetary donations for Toys for Tots while also educating guests about the origin and impact of the charitable organization.
Salt Shack is honored and privileged to be able to use their environmentally safe, waterfront property to support local children during the holiday season. With the generosity of the supportive Tampa Bay community, they are working toward their goal of filling up the Salt Shack boat to the brim with toys. Toy bins were placed throughout the property for customers to bring new, unwrapped gifts or monetary donations prior to or during the event to be prepared for the holidays.
During the event, guests donated around 300 toys and raised about $2,000 for Toys for Tots.
“Salt Shack on the Bay was honored to be a part of such a great charity like Toys for Tots,” says Bill Baratta, the restaurant’s director of marketing and entertainment. “The first Salt Shack Boat Load of Toys for Tots event was a great success and an even better foundation for next year’s event. Let all hope COVID is behind us by then so we can have an even bigger response from the community.”
Salt Shack’s one-of-a-kind restaurant property is fully open-air and carefully spaced to a safe 6-foot distance. Since their opening in July 2019, they have received numerous awards, including 2020’s “Best New Restaurant” and “Best Waterfront Restaurant.” They also earned the title of 2021’s “Best Waterfront Restaurant,” “Best Seafood Restaurant” and “Best Sandwich” for their Coastal Crabcake Sandwich, plus the runner-up award for their grouper sandwich.
