Brought to you by the Savannah College of Art and Design
The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is a leader in art and design education, and a top choice for students looking for an exceptional education and life-changing career opportunities. The university is incredibly diverse, with more than 15,000 students representing all 50 U.S. states and more than 100 countries. Many of our talented students and successful alumni are from Tampa and the surrounding metropolitan area.
Founded in 1978, SCAD offers more programs of study and specializations than any other art and design university in the U.S., with over 100 degree programs across more than 40 majors and 75 minors. SCAD is the preeminent source of knowledge in every discipline we teach.
Two notable alumni from the Tampa area are Shelby Pogue, who received her B.F.A. in fibers in 2020, and Sheridan Markham who earned her master’s degree in interior design this year.
“Even though we’re both from Clearwater, we didn’t know each other before we came to SCAD,” says Pogue, “but once we connected here, we felt a natural kinship as collaborators. My experience at SCAD really prepared me for a creative career.”
While at SCAD, Pogue and Markham teamed up with the SCAD x Kravet Design Challenge in back-to-back years. Those victories earned the duo commendations from Kravet, the global leader in to-the-trade fabric and home furnishing.
“SCAD takes your breath away. There’s no other way to describe it,” says Markham. “It’s a place of opportunity, where creativity knows no bounds. The students, teachers, and mentors all have a common goal–to push the limits of innovation. By making the decision to go to SCAD, I took an immeasurable step towards becoming a better creative and collaborator.”
SCAD is in step with the evolving professional world. The university offers three distinctive locations immersed in culture and history as well as a global eLearning platform. Foundation courses are offered in all locations, so students can customize their education, and experience SCAD life all over the world.
In Atlanta, our students are plugged in to the city’s bustling Midtown area, close to museums, parks, music venues, sports arenas, and a thriving Georgia film industry. The SCAD location in Lacoste, France, promises to inspire students as they live and study at a creative retreat in a hilltop village. In Savannah, SCAD is woven into the fabric of the city, with more than 80 restored buildings hosting cutting-edge resources to expand your creativity. SCAD eLearning is an innovative platform that features the same classes, renowned faculty, and support services that form the foundation of all SCAD locations.
SCAD is designed to help you turn your passion into your profession. The university offers rolling admission. Take part in a general admission presentation on November 21 from 10am to noon at Tampa’s Epicurean Hotel to learn about SCAD’s innovative academic programs, art and design career options, and admission requirements. Following the admission presentation, students also can participate in a Q-and-A session with admission representatives or meet representatives one-on-one. Visit scad.edu to learn more.
