Before joining TECO, Stephanie D. Smith built a career in public affairs and policy. She also served in leadership roles under former Florida Governors Charlie Crist and Jeb Bush.
As vice president of State and Regional Affairs for Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas, she leads a team that oversees legislative strategy and community investment statewide. Smith’s leadership philosophy centers on optimism, teamwork and trust. Her defining moment came during the 2024 hurricane season, when she guided crisis response efforts with empathy and collaboration.
