Twenty-something years ago, I took my first trip to New York City. I went for the architecture, but the graffiti rattled my brain. The inspiration ran deep, but having already exited my vandalism phase, I settled for snapping photos and promising myself that, “…one day when I could afford to design my own home, I’d somehow incorporate street art.”
Fast forward, and enter Bask. There was obvious chemistry between his painting style and my design aesthetic and this three-sided mural, standing tall in Historic Hyde Park, is a testament to that connection. Taking over a year to plan and three weeks to paint, this 37-foot high by 65-foot long by four-foot wide piece showcases hand-painted patterns in a monochromatic palette quilted into various shapes defined by meticulously placed control joints.
