On a trip to New Orleans during the holidays, a Tampa Bay collector couple explored the art galleries along Royal Street. It was there that they walked into David Harouni’s gallery, an artist known for his paintings adorned with gold crowns, and whose work can be seen in many homes throughout the city. Within the gallery, they were drawn to the piece “Queen.”
They note that what draws them to specific artwork is either an instant connection to the piece, both aesthetically and emotionally, or learning more about the artist and the history behind the piece. After purchasing the artwork in New Orleans, Harouni personally made the nearly 10-hour drive from New Orleans to Tampa Bay to hang “Queen,” a portrait featuring Harouni’s signature gilded crown, in the couple’s Hyde Park home.
