French artist Vanessa Alice, aka Miss Van, is a true OG in the art game. Credited with pioneering the feminine movement in street art, her work has since graced city walls and fine art galleries across the U.S., Europe and Asia. Her art is so unique that I recognized her pieces before I even knew her name. Miss Van describes her aesthetic as gauzy, romantic compositions that carry a surreal, burlesque quality, resonating with a beautiful synergy of rawness, softness and emotion. This piece, “Palomita II,” is acrylic on canvas. It belongs to Dr. Sheallah Palmer, an avid collector who has three original Miss Vans in her collection.
