If you start with a basic calendar of live events, add the mobile ticketing capabilities of Ticketmaster, and finish off with the Netflix subscription payment model, you’d end up with something like InWeGo. The app, which launched in Tampa this fall, allows subscribers to pay a flat fee of $39 and choose as many different local events as they’d like to attend from a selection of dozens on the app. InWeGo gives users the option to pick seats next to friends who also use the app or to purchase guest tickets for non-users.
“Our mission is to be a simple and flexible way for people to discover and attend the best events the city has to offer with your friends,” says InWeGo general manager Chris LeCraw.
Events cover the three main categories of sports, music and general events; a sampling of options on a given week could include Tampa Bay Lightning games, stand-up comedy shows, food festivals, fundraisers and concerts. LeCraw says the population of Tampa Bay, hits the platform’s sweet spot with a growing core of young professionals who actively seek out events.
“Our model is discovery,” he adds. “You may sign up because there’s a concert you want to go to, but then you start searching for other events. The events get new fans they may not have had in their pipeline otherwise.”
