As Simply Done Donuts founder Karissa Tuttle has discovered, it’s pretty simple to make people happy; coffee and a donut seems to do the trick. “What started off as creating little cake donuts, which allowed you to sample more flavors and not feel guilty about it, has turned into a real passion to put smiles on peoples’ faces,” she says. “It never gets old to hear a mom say, ‘Oh my gosh, my son or daughter is obsessed with your donuts.’ That makes my day every time.” Tuttle and her husband, Joey — who is originally from Land O’ Lakes — recently opened a Palma Ceia outpost of their Atlanta-based mini donut shop. They specialize in mini cake donuts in a variety of flavors (including a flavor of the month, and churro, which Tuttle says is one of Tampa’s top-sellers so far), coffee beverages, cold brew chilled with coffee ice cubes, and frozen lemonade. The new shop is also a family affair, as it’s managed by Joey’s mom. Tuttle says Simply Done Donuts will soon bring its donut truck to Tampa, allowing the shop to cater any size event and makes its donuts and coffee directly on site.
