Sparkman Wharf introduced two eateries to its dining garden in July. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream and Naked Farmer took over spaces previously occupied by Whatever Pops and Bowls and Montados by Mise en Place, respectively. Naked Farmer has a mission to serve only locally sourced ingredients in their build-your-own bowls. “Naked Farmer stands at the intersection of community and economy. We happen to do it through food,” founder Jordan Johnson says. “We buy [food] from local farmers, we cook it with love, and then we sell it to our local community.”
The restaurant serves vegetables harvested as little as 24 hours before being served and meats from local farms like Olivor Heritage in Dover and Providence Cattle in Dade City. Because of the focus on seasonality, the menu will rotate four to five times a year to feature ingredients in season around Florida and the southeast (currently, that includes items like broccoli, tomatoes, watermelon and sweet potatoes). On the sweet side, Jeni’s made its first Tampa introduction in 2018 while on its annual truck tour. Its new Sparkman shop serves some of Jeni’s best-selling flavors, like Brambleberry Crisp, Brown Butter Almond Brittle and rotating seasonal varieties.
