Last year, Vizcaya chef and restaurateur Felix Piedra opened the Italian restaurant Babalucci on West Shore Boulevard. In November, he converted the space to his popular Vizcaya concept. So far, he says, the audience has followed to get more of their Spanish favorites, like seafood paella (pictured below), ceviche, croquetas and roasted duck. “We’ll be changing the menu a little bit in the coming weeks, but it’s mostly the favorites people have come to know,” Piedra says. In addition to a private room that can seat up to 50 people, the new space also features an upstairs bar and lounge that Piedra is hoping will become a late-night destination, complete with rooftop outdoor seating and live music on the weekends. Vizcaya South is open for dinner daily, with a happy hour every day from 5 to 7 p.m.
