15th Annual Pride & Passion Set to Glow

May 18, 2021 (Tampa, FL) — On Saturday, August 28, 2021, the Tampa Museum of Art undergoes a jaw-dropping transformation into a Neon Jungle to celebrate Pride & Passion. With over 500 guests enjoying an unforgettable evening full of lively music, eye-catching attire, and mouth-watering treats from local restaurants, it’s easy to see why Pride & Passion is a Downtown Tampa favorite.

Now in its 15th year, Pride & Passion celebrates Tampa Bay’s diverse community and the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community to arts and culture. It’s befitting that Pride & Passion: Neon Jungle, a signature fundraising event for the Tampa Museum of Art, features the Bay Area’s colorful community. It’s equally befitting that the money raised supports programs at the Museum that reduce barriers to admission, create safe places for people to experience the arts, and celebrates local talent.

This year, the Tampa Museum of Art partnered with Metro Inclusive Health to bring new programs focused on LGBTQ+ youth in Tampa Bay. Nicholas Catania, the current chair of Pride & Passion: Neon Jungle and past committee member for six years running, asserted that “art and education are essential and Pride & Passion brings those two passions together. The Museum’s partnership with Metro to offer art programming to LGBTQ+ youth will help kids who need that creative outlet to find themselves in the art.”

About the event, Catania added that “there’s so much more than a one-night event. The event itself is the culmination of the hard work that the committee does in a year-long process to make everyone from all walks of life feel included in a place that celebrates the uniqueness of everybody. Through the funds raised for Pride & Passion, we make sure that we can bring more art access to the people of the community, including marginalized people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to visit.”

Friends and members of the LGBTQ+ community make up the Pride & Passion committee and produce this event because of their shared passion for the mission of the Tampa Museum of Art: to collect, preserve, study, and exhibit iconic and important works of art to educate, engage, and inspire the residents of our region and others around the world.
