ABOUT ME

As president and CEO, helping to lead Tampa General is like conducting a professional orchestra — you are constantly adapting, improvising and modulating the work while allowing your team to do what they do best. So, there is no such thing as a typical day for me. I believe in the importance of culture and communication. We have a world-class team that delivers outstanding patient care 24/7.

My role has changed as I was leading the organization through a crisis. Ultimately, we all had to remain laser-like focused, block out distractions and stay grounded in the work of caring for our entire community. I watched the TGH team put our patients first every day. My top priority was to make sure they were cared for, supported, and had the supplies they needed so they could treat all those who required care while ensuring their safety and well-being. I also made sure communication was constant during the crisis by hosting leadership and team member forums that helped to keep all teams updated in real time.

Taking care of my team is a top priority. TGH not only prioritizes the physical and emotional health of each person, but also provides extensive health and wellness programs to the team. This allows them to be the most effective team members and people they can be, which then allows them to provide the best care possible for our patients. At the end of the day, if you take care of your team members, they will take care of the rest.

MY LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

Walking is a huge part of my life. I walk five to seven miles a day. It allows me to not only decompress but gain clarity as I work through both challenges and opportunities. I also love to read. … My gym is the city of Tampa. I walk Bayshore and South Tampa and take advantage of the parks and all of the outdoor space the city has to offer. Tampa Bay is a beautiful place to live and work.

Not only do I love to walk around Tampa, but I am a big fan of Fort De Soto Park. I also try to get out on my boat as much as possible. For a cultural experience, I love spending time at the Tampa Museum of Art or the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg.

My perfect day with the family would be bike riding along Bayshore Boulevard, hitting the Florida Aquarium and stopping for lunch at Sparkman Wharf. Throughout our family time, it is awesome to see Tampa General Hospital standing tall throughout the Tampa Bay area.
