Ybor City Welcomes Natural Wine Bar
La Sétima Club opened in November on Nebraska Avenue in Ybor City as one of the first natural wine bars in Tampa. The team behind Jug & Bottle Dept. created it to complement historic Ybor. In a mysterious, nostalgic atmosphere, La Sétima Club features a rotation of low-intervention wines by the bottle and glass, as well as a plant-based menu.
Chris Ponte Opens New Concept in Midtown Tampa
Ponte is the newest concept from chef Chris Ponte, who also owns popular Tampa restaurants On Swann and Olivia. The upscale venue debuted in Midtown Tampa in November with a large wine selection and a diverse modern American food menu influenced by the flavors of France and Italy. A wide array of steaks and local seafood, as well as tableside caviar and champagne, are served in an elegant setting.
Crumbl Cookies Arrives in South Tampa
Crumbl Cookies has been flourishing with baked treats since 2017 and arrived in South Tampa this November. Located on Dale Mabry Highway, this marked Crumbl’s 47th location in Florida, with the closest locations previously in Westchase and Clearwater. New flavor combinations are available every week, along with rotating fan favorite staples, for in-store pickup, delivery and catering.
Luxury Hotel to Join St. Pete’s Edge District
A 13-story boutique hotel is set to break ground in early 2023 with 321 feet of Central Avenue frontage in St. Pete’s Edge District. The 114-room hotel is anticipated to feature six food and drink venues, in addition to the main tower. The concept was created by local developer Jonathan Daou, who plans to include small businesses in about 5,000 square feet of commercial space. He hopes to open in the first half of 2024.
Popular St. Pete Cafe Expands to Downtown Tampa
Flatbread and Butter plans on opening early this year on the first floor of Ave Tampa Riverwalk Apartments. The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, featuring pizzas, sandwiches, toasts, parfaits and more light bites. Owner Jesse Muire will use concrete 3D-printing technology to create a coffee bar that allows for unique customization while minimizing waste.
Five-O Donut Co Opens St. Pete Location
Five years after Five-O Donut Co debuted in Sarasota, St. Pete is expected to open its fifth location by early 2023 on 4th Street. Five-O Donuts was created by Christine Nordstrom, a professional pastry chef and baker who brought classic donuts, as well as cake, yeast-raised and croissant donuts to Florida. Drip coffee, cold brew and an espresso bar are also at each location.
Whole Foods Market Lands in St. Pete
Sitting along 38th Avenue North and 3rd Street North, organic grocery store Whole Foods Market has started construction on its first St. Pete location. Development partners J Square Developers and SJC Ventures broke ground in October and expect to finish exterior construction later this spring. An opening has not been announced.
Elevenses Co to Open First Storefront in Ybor City
Tampa specialty bakery Elevenses Co will open its first storefront early this year on Columbus Drive in Ybor City. It specializes in cakes, macarons, cookies with cake pop filling, brownies and cookie tarts. Owner Jade Yelvington created the concept to put her own twist on classic desserts, such as miso salted caramel macarons, matcha shortbread cookies and ube vanilla cake.
St. Pete Welcomes Drive-Thru Restaurant Concept, Little’s
Set to open in early 2023, Little’s is St. Pete’s new drive-thru restaurant with a walk-up window utilizing shipping containers. Featuring chicken tenders, milkshakes, french fries and more fast-casual food, Little’s is a concept created by entrepreneur Brian P. Butler and Colby Restaurant Group. While the future of Little’s is still in the making, guests could potentially see a dine-in option and breakfast items on the menu.
