For Chandler Cartwright, known to her followers as @chanlaa, shopping local in Tampa Bay means finding a little bit of everything — from wardrobe staples to beauty essentials and home accents.

For fashion favorites, Cartwright gravitates toward Alice & Olivia for whimsical ready-to-wear gowns, Sunni Spencer for chic swim and resort wear, and Cabana South for vacation-ready looks and a restock of her favorite self-tanner, Loving Tan. For everyday looks, she shops Canvas Fashion Gallery in St. Petersburg, which she describes as a mini boutique with Nordstrom-level style. Nordstrom itself remains her shoe destination, while Alo is her go-to for fresh, on-trend activewear.

Downtown Dogs

Her beauty routine starts at Élan Aesthetics, which carries her must-have Biologique Recherche line, and continues at Bluemercury in Hyde Park Village for makeup, fragrance and more. The first Sunday of the month means enjoying a stroll through the Hyde Park Village Fresh Market with a stop at Downtown Dogs for treats and toys for her family’s cockapoo.

When it comes to gifts for artisan goods, unique gifts and fresh produce. While in the village, a stop at Downtown Dogs for gourmet treats for her family’s cockapoo is a must.

Cartwright’s eye for décor takes her to Anthropologie for what she calls “holiday décor galore” and to The Foundry in St. Petersburg for vintage treasures. When it comes to accessories, Mavilo Wholesalers is her source for everyday jewelry, while her husband relies on SilverFox Label for custom menswear that keeps him looking sharp.

And for a cozy break between stops, Willa’s Provisions serves up seasonal drinks and holiday décor that make it a festive favorite.

Penelope T is more than a women’s clothing boutique — it’s a destination for regular shoppers who want unique pieces, often hand-selected by the owners just for them.

Best friends, business partners and Penelope T founders Manne White and Nickie Smith met in college, chased their fashion dreams in New York and eventually brought their creative energy to Tampa, where they opened their first shop on Howard Avenue 20 years ago.

Known as a one-stop shop for fun, luxurious fashion, the boutique houses exclusive collections of fashion-forward casualwear, cocktail-ready looks, jewelry, shoes and accessories you won’t find in the mall.

“We intentionally bring in only a few pieces per style so that every client feels the exclusivity. What makes it truly meaningful is the personal relationships we’ve built with our clients,” Smith said. “I feel humbled to be trusted with dressing them for life’s biggest moments, and I love knowing that our pieces live on in their closets and in their photo albums.”
