MY LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY:

“The city will take on the personality of the Mayor.  Lead from the front, take care of your people and never forget to thank residents for the opportunity they gave you to serve this great city.”

Bob Buckhorn, former mayor of Tampa (2011–2019), is executive vice president and principal of the U.S. cities practice at Shumaker Advisors Florida, providing strategic communications, public affairs and business development services statewide.

During his tenure as mayor, he led the city out of the deepest recession since the Great Depression, investing in infrastructure and advancing urban and economic development initiatives such as the Tampa Riverwalk, Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park and the West River Redevelopment Plan. Buckhorn pioneered progressive programs, including one of Florida’s first domestic partnership registries, the Stay and Play initiative and started the process to become one of the nation’s first Autism Friendly City. A Penn State alumnus, he serves on multiple civic and economic boards.
