Daniela Soledade is an internationally acclaimed Brazilian bossa nova music star residing in Tampa Bay. A third-generation musician with roots steeped in the birth of bossa nova, she regularly releases new music and has two studio albums, “A Moment of You”, her debut album and “Pretty World”, released in 2022.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I come from a family of musicians who participated in the pre-bossa nova movement. Because of my father, I grew up recording in studios and in a musical environment. Samba is in my blood.

MY LOCAL KNOWLEDGE

For live music, I recommend The Palladium Theater, The Studio@620, Intermezzo Coffee and Cocktails, The Independent Bar and Cafe, the Suncoast Jazz Festival and the Clearwater Jazz Holiday.

I currently live in downtown St. Pete. I love it. I can walk around town, go to restaurants, walk to the pier and parks, the post office, coffee shops and museums. I never need to get in a car.

I love all of our museums. The Dali Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Imagine Museum, the American Arts & Crafts Museum, and many more are always bringing in great collections from all over the world. The murals around town also bring color and joy to our community as well. St. Pete is a joyful place to live in.

I was recently walking down the street on Central Ave., looking for a gift for a friend. I walked by a local artist named Denice Marie Eyre that had a number of wonderful paintings layed out. Getting my friend a piece of local art is so meaningful. It’s nice having access to so much beautiful local art in our community.

I love Fado for its Portuguese cuisine. For delicious traditional Thai food, I go to 9 Bangkok. For a home-cooked Brazilian meal, I go to Sugar Loaf Emporium. Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails makes a great caipirinha.

I look forward to taking my kids to the Florida Orchestra’s holiday programs. It makes the season feel more festive as we all dress up and go to the beautiful Mahaffey Theater to enjoy the Orchestra playing our favorite holiday songs.

The Tampa Thai Temple is a special place. The gorgeous setting with orchids, spanish moss and oak trees surrounding a beautiful temple makes it a perfect outing.
