Founded in 1977 by Sr. Margaret Freeman, CASA began as an eight-bed shelter for domestic violence survivors and grew into an independent nonprofit. Today, as the certified domestic violence center for Pinellas County, CASA provides shelter, a 24-hour hotline, legal advocacy, training and prevention programs.
