A former prosecutor, Amy Ruiz is a graduate of Florida State University College of Law, where she served on the Journal of Transnational Law & Policy.

In Tampa, Ruiz has served as president of the Tampa Hispanic Bar Association, a Special Magistrate for the City of Tampa, and secretary of the Florida Bar’s Traffic Court Rules Committee. She is also the recipient of the 2024 Raymond E. Fernandez Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to criminal justice in Hillsborough County.
