The Entrepreneur’s Attorney
“You’re an entrepreneur with a law degree,” aptly proclaimed one of Sheryl Hunter’s clients, a serial tech entrepreneur and angel investor. This declaration captures what has shaped the trajectory of Sheryl’s career. Her entrepreneurial itch to creatively solve problems and achieve excellence collaboratively with like-minded people is the source of her passion to work with entrepreneurs and the investors who fuel their dreams, and to contribute her talents to Florida’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.
For over 20 years, Sheryl has worked with growth-focused entrepreneurs and their business enterprises, from start-up to exit. Since 2013 she has been the Managing Partner of Hunter Business Law, The Entrepreneur’s Law Firm®, which was named to the 2019 INC 5000 list of Fastest Growing Companies in America and the 2019 list of Largest Women-Owned Businesses in Tampa Bay. Sheryl was named the 2016 Businesswoman of the Year for Legal Services and identified in the top 10 people to watch list in 2018 by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
Hunter Business Law serves clients in much the same way as in-house counsel, offering accessible and pragmatic legal advice. The firm’s attorneys are experienced in commercial litigation and corporate law, including entity formation, partner agreements, contracts, private security offerings, and mergers and acquisitions.
Sheryl is a frequent speaker to entrepreneurship organizations, students and business groups. She also serves on three boards: Synapse, a nonprofit dedicated to sparking innovation; Bambino, a tech company that helps parents find, book and pay babysitters through an app; and the advisory board of Transitions Candles, a social enterprise of GEMS, a nonprofit serving at-risk girls. Additionally, as legal counsel to and an investor in Florida Funders, Sheryl helps raise capital for Florida companies. Most recently, Sheryl launched Liberty Law Suites, a coworking space for lawyers. Sheryl is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, J.D., and George Washington University, B.A., and lives in Tampa with her husband Gabe and two children.
