Dr. Jeffrey Tedder understands that for athletes and everyday fitness enthusiasts alike, there’s nothing more frustrating than being on the sidelines with an injury.
As a two-sport letterman in football and basketball for Wofford College, here members the hard work, dedication and thrill of competing. Now, as a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, winning means helping injured athletes get back in the game as soon as possible.
With the support of his expert team at Tedder Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, Dr. Tedder treats all injuries with knee and shoulder arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction, stem cell therapy and PRP therapy. This relatively new treatment can be used to relieve pain from muscle, ligament and tendon injuries or chronic conditions like arthritis. The plasma from a patient’s own blood is injected into the affected area, relieving pain, promoting faster healing, and delaying the need for more serious interventions like joint replacement surgery. Because the treatment is noninvasive, there are minimal risks and no downtime involved with PRP injections. Similarly, stem cell injections use stem cells extracted from your own bone marrow to treat joint and bone injuries in the shoulders, knees, hips and spine.
Dr. Tedder may be the go-to doctor for knees and shoulders, but he also treats hands, wrists, hips, elbows, feet and ankles. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He’s also a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, as well as the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. During his sports medicine fellowship, he studied under the mentorship of Dr. James Andrews, a world-renowned orthopaedic surgeon for professional athletes.
Whether you’re a recreational runner or a competitive athlete, Dr. Tedder and his team will customize a plan to help get you treated, rehabilitated and back in the game.
