Dr. Drew Meriwether brings a rare combination of academic rigor, hospital-based experience and relationship-driven care to concierge primary care in Tampa. Double board-certified in internal medicine and pediatrics, he offers patients depth, access and continuity through a long-term, highly personalized approach to health care.
Dr. Meriwether completed his residency at the University of South Florida, where he later served as an assistant professor. His clinical background includes work as a hospitalist at Tampa General Hospital and St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, collaborating closely with specialists across cardiology, pulmonology, hematology and other complex disciplines. In recognition of his clinical excellence and leadership, he was recently named USF Health Clinician of the Year.
Today, Dr. Meriwether practices at Bayshore Concierge Medicine as part of AnswersMD, a premium concierge primary care group serving professionals and families across Florida. The AnswersMD model is intentionally designed to prioritize what modern health care often lacks: time, access and continuity, allowing physicians to practice at the highest level while building meaningful patient relationships.
“Concierge medicine allows me to focus on prevention, individualized care and truly knowing my patients,” Dr. Meriwether says. “By keeping my patient panel intentionally small, I can deliver care that is proactive, responsive and consistent. I see myself as a long-term partner in my patients’ health, not just someone they see when something goes wrong.”
That philosophy shapes every aspect of his practice. Appointments are unhurried and comprehensive. Communication is direct, ongoing and accessible. Care plans are data-informed, evidence-based and tailored to each patient’s goals, whether optimizing performance, managing chronic conditions or staying ahead of emerging health risks. His dual training allows him to maintain a broad, systems-level perspective while remaining deeply focused on preventive primary care for both adults and children.
At AnswersMD, physicians are supported by a structure that prioritizes clinical excellence over volume. For patients, this translates into same-day or next-day access, direct communication with their physician, comprehensive executive physicals and a care experience that evolves as their lives and priorities change. For Dr. Meriwether, concierge medicine is about practicing medicine attentively and proactively, built on trust, continuity and long-term partnership.
