Every year, we spotlight some of Tampa Bay’s leading physicians. Beyond their expertise and accomplishments, it’s their relationships with patients and their unique perspectives on the future of healthcare that makes them stand out. In this roundtable, local doctors share what drives them in practice, the lessons they’ve learned from patients and the habits they believe make the biggest difference in long-term health. From prevention to emerging therapies, their insights offer a grounded look at where medicine is today and where it may be headed next.

What keeps you motivated in your practice?

“After 25 years, what stays with me is seeing patients recognize themselves again— their confidence returning, their energy shifting and a renewed excitement for life. Being trusted with that transformation still drives me.” – Dr. Eric Khairalla, Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon at bōdze

“For over 25 years, I’ve been helping patients with eyelid and facial rejuvenation. Patient success is always the driving force behind my passion to keep finding better ways to help my patients restore their confidence and a more youthful appearance.” – Dr. Adam J. Scheiner, Laser Eyelid and Facial Cosmetic Surgeon at Adam Scheiner, MD

What’s the most rewarding part of your work right now?

“As an Oculoplastic Surgeon, being able to achieve natural refreshed results for our valued patients through the combination of cosmetic eyelid surgery, skin care, Botox and fillers is very rewarding!”– Dr. William Mack, Oculoplastic and Facial Cosmetic Surgeon and Founder of The Mack Center

What’s one lesson you’ve learned from patients over the years?

“For me, the lesson would be to try to stay humble. Patients often teach me things that doesn’t fit my training or expectations. Listening carefully has shown me that lived experience can reveal truths medicine hasn’t been fully explained yet.” – Dr. Kenneth Pages, Board Certified Psychiatrist and Founder of TMS of South Tampa.

What is one preventive habit you wish more patients practiced consistently?

“I wish more patients used sunscreen because it’s the single most effective anti-aging and skin-protective product available. Daily use helps prevent skin cancer, pigmentation, wrinkles, and premature aging.” – Dr. Todd Besnoff, Medical Director of Ultimate Image Cosmetic Medical Center

What small daily change can have the biggest long-term health impact?

“Consistent exercise will have the biggest long-term impact on health. Start slow and work up, but be consistent!” – Dr. Geoffrey M. Kwitko, Ophthalmologist and Founder of Kwitko.

What trend in healthcare are you most optimistic about?

“Platelet-rich plasma. For the weekend athlete with a nagging injury, we use a concentrated sample of your own blood to ease pain and restore function, an alternative to surgery.” – Dr. Kareem Qaisi, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Interventional Pain Medicine Physician at The Performance Lab.

“The integration of cellular science, consciousness and personalized medicine has the potential to completely redefine human health.” – Dr. Lisa Koche, Board-Certified Physician, Founder and Director of Spectra Wellness Solutions
