A century ago, developer D.P. Davis pioneered the construction of three man-made islands south of downtown Tampa by dredging and filling portions of Tampa Bay, resulting in what is now recognized as Davis Islands.

Original homeowner D.P. Davis.

To inaugurate this new area of Tampa Bay, a five-bedroom, three-bathroom Mediterranean revival-style home was erected for D.P. Davis at 116 W Davis Blvd. This historic residence, listed for $3.6 million, holds architectural significance and has been on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places since 1989.

Listed by Smith & Associates Real Estate, Tampa Bay’s largest independent and locally-owned real estate brokerage, the 4,059 square-foot home nestled on a half-acre estate boasts stucco exteriors, red tile roofs, arched doorways and wrought iron details emblematic of its era.

Architectural details adorn the home’s interior.

Today, Davis Islands is celebrated for its affluent residents, luxurious residences, prestigious yacht club and convenient airport access, all thanks to D.P. Davis’s visionary legacy.
