Metal elements punctuate the palette with strength, acting as sculptural expressions of industrial design.

Revitalizing an older home is often more challenging than starting from scratch, and this two-story, 3,700-square-foot property—originally built in the early 1900s—wasn’t just upgraded, but transformed into something entirely new. Now home to Black House by Lecada, a private social wellness club, the residence was reimagined by Dana Martinez and Carlos Hernandez. Their goal: create a warm, modern space that honored the home’s architectural roots.

A raw, intentional aesthetic strips away excess to reveal the true character of each material.

Outside, the exterior was refreshed in Sherwin-Williams’ Iron Ore and Tricorn Black. The original windows were preserved and treated with 5% ceramic tint by Classic Window Film of Tampa Bay. A tobacco-stained front porch welcomes guests into an outdoor oasis featuring cozy seating, lush landscaping with artificial turf by Real Estate Revivers, and potted greenery by Yura Vine Brothers.

Every detail invites reflection—honoring material purity while creating space for breath and transformation.

Inside, micro-cemented walls offer a smooth, raw texture that contrasts with preserved red brick, adding a sense of historic grit. Custom metalwork by Del Torre Welding functions as both structure and sculpture. With the help of consultants Samantha Vansteenburg and William McLuckie, the furnishings were curated to create a seamless flow across the lounge, treatment rooms, private dressing areas, bathrooms and locker spaces.
