Downtown St. Pete Welcomes Mediterranean Restaurant
Allelo, a new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, opened in September on Beach Drive in Downtown St. Pete. The unique name stems from the idea of people coming together, as the restaurant’s plates are designed for sharing. Allelo’s menu includes dishes like flatbreads, snapper, oysters, charcuterie and other shareable items. Cocktails and a variety of domestic and international wines compliment the atmosphere of the restaurant.
Westshore Marina District Adds Farmers Market
The Sunday Morning Market has arrived in the Westshore Marina District. Featuring shops, live music, food and more, the market offers over 60 local vendors with plants, produce, food trucks, jewelry, art, clothing and baked goods. The market takes place on the fourth Sunday of every month on the private drive off of Westshore nearest Cru Cellars.
More Retail Headed to Water Street
Two new retailers opened in Water Street Tampa in October. Dwell Home Market is a family-owned company that features home decor and furniture, with Water Street being its second location in Tampa. Dwell will have a showroom on the first floor of Asher, one of Water Street’s residential towers. On the first floor of Cora is Yura Vine Brothers, a boutique plant shop that specializes in handmade planters and pottery. It offers rare collector plants, indoor tropical plants, moss art and biophilic design.
Asian Steakhouse Coming to Downtown St. Petersburg
Set to open this winter at the Ponce De Leon Hotel, Fortu is among the latest concepts from Shan Bakrac, owner of local favorite Top Slice Pizzeria and recently opened Black Cattle Burger Co. This Asian fusion-inspired steakhouse will feature an extensive menu of Japanese wagyu, seafood dishes, dumplings, sushi platters and more. Fortu will take the place of tapas bar and restaurant Ceviche at 95 Central Ave.
Shaquille O’Neal Brings Big Chicken to Tampa
NBA star Shaquille O’Neal is introducing his fast-casual concept, Big Chicken, to Tampa Bay. Founded in 2018, Big Chicken blends O’Neal’s home-cooked staples with modern flavors and trends. Featuring crispy tenders, chicken sandwiches, mac ‘n’ cheese and more delicious bites, the restaurant is also loved for its Big Dog’s Brewing Co. root beer. An opening timeline has not been announced.
Waterfront Multipurpose Development Headed to Gandy Boulevard
Key International, a Miami-based real estate firm, is bringing a 39-acre mixed-purpose project to St. Pete, which will feature 376 residential units on the property. Also included in the development plan are a waterfront restaurant and marina. Among some of the amenities are resort-style pools, a volleyball court, basketball court, playground, recreational field, board walk and more. Still unnamed, the development is scheduled to begin construction in 2023.
Tampa’s First Five-Star Hotel Opens on Water Street
The Tampa Edition opened its 26-story property in September on booming WaterStreet. The development features a hotel with 172 rooms, along with 38 private residences. Designed by Ian Schrager, the Tampa Edition’s amenities include a rooftop pool, spa, gym and seven eateries for guests and residents to enjoy. The property’s sleek aesthetic is displayed throughout with high ceilings, marble fixtures and oak finishes.
Vegan Restaurant & Cocktail Bar Comes to St. Pete
Full-service cocktail bar and vegan restaurant concept Good Intentions is now open on 1st Avenue in St. Pete. The new spot offers modern vegan dishes, as well as cocktails, beer and wine. With a large dining room and wraparound bar, Good Intentions invites guests in for a unique, creative experience.
