The original Tampa Stadium, which hosted Super Bowls XVII and XXV, was later dubbed “The Big Sombrero” by ESPN’s Chris Berman for the wave-like shape created along the top of the stadium that resembled the Mexican hat.

Location: Tampa Stadium

38 — LA Raiders

Attendance: 72,920

Anthem: Barry Manilow

Halftime: “Salute to Superstars of the Silver Screen”

Network: CBS

TV Viewers: 77.6 million

30-second commercial: $368,000

STAT: The Raiders’ 38 points scored and 29-point margin of victory broke Super Bowl records; it remains the most points scored by an AFC team in a Super Bowl.

STAT: Super Bowl XXV became the first Super Bowl to feature two teams representing the same state, even though the Giants technically play in New Jersey.

An elaborate 103-foot pirate ship replica is located above the North end zone and was designed by a Walt Disney World prop creator.

Raymond James Stadium is home to the Outback Bowl, usually played on New Year’s Day.
