$50M Complex Planned for Downtown Clearwater
A major new entertainment hub is set to transform downtown Clearwater, as EVO Entertainment plans a large-scale venue at 700 Cleveland St. The $50 million project, which will span 83,000 feet, will blend movies, dining and interactive attractions under one roof, including a state-of-the-art multiplex, bowling lanes, arcade games and laser tag. The anticipated opening is set for 2027.
Sunshine Skyway Bridge Goes Cashless
The Florida Department of Transportation has made the Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge cashless. Instead of cash or coins, drivers will now need to have the SunPass, E-Pass, E-ZPass or Peach Pass. Vehicles without electronic responders will be charged with pay-by-plate billing.

Robots at BayCare
Robots are rolling into BayCare’s Morton Plant Hospital as part of a seven-month pilot program with Gainesville-based startup Rovex. The test will evaluate how autonomous robots can support hospital logistics—initially mapping workflows before moving equipment like empty stretchers. Operating at less than 2 miles and hour and equipped with computer vision, the robots aim to ease staff workloads without disrupting care.
Five-story Innovation Center Coming to University of Tampa
The 153,000-square-foot Dickey Science Innovation Center, named for benefactors Dr. Stephen F. and Marsha Dickey, will house advanced teaching and research spaces, including microscopy suites, aquarium labs and a bioinformatics and computational sciences classroom. The facility will also include 73 faculty offices and a 35-seat general-use classroom.
St. Pete Marina Gets $165 Million Redevelopment
The City of St. Petersburg is planning a major makeover of its downtown marina. The project will update old docks and seawalls, improve water quality, and make the waterfront more open and accessible to the public. New amenities and layout changes are also in the works. The marina will stay open during construction, which is expected to begin in 2028 and wrap up around 2031.
