Entering the courtroom, injury attorney Ryan Hutchinson already has a strong handle on the nefarious tactics the defense will use. “My career began working on behalf of massive insurance companies, defending individuals and corporations whose careless choices turned people’s lives upside down,” Hutchinson says. “It felt awkward watching our firm celebrate a trial win wherein we convinced the jury to award zero compensation to a woman with permanent injuries caused by our client.”
Applying his unique knowledge and skill toward victim advocacy instead, Hutchinson, a fourth-generation Floridian, founded HUTCH FIRM in his hometown of Tampa to serve clients throughout Florida. He prides himself on staying apprised on the latest research and technological advances in disciplines key to personal injury trials — including orthopedics, radiology, neurology, physics, engineering and psychology — to gain a competitive advantage.
“I even scrub into the surgeries of my clients in order to learn every nuance of their procedure, which helps me take on the defense ‘expert,’ who is always simply a hired gun,” Hutchinson says. “In order to shred their biased opinions, you have to know the medicine and science almost as well as them. The defense experts are intelligent and Ivy League-educated with more degrees than a thermometer, so you have to be on your game.”
Hutchinson also understands the necessity of taking cases to trial. “You must be willing to take cases the distance, or the defense will never take your demands seriously,” he says. “You are all bark and no bite unless they fear the realistic consequences of losing big.
