Everything Old Is New Again In Ybor City
Deemed one of America’s 10 Great Streets by the American Planning Association, Ybor City’s main drag, 7th Avenue, is returning to its roots. The historic street is in the process of rebricking, returning it to its original grandeur. Until 1960, Ybor City streets were brick, but the bricks were replaced with asphalt when paving became more popular and cost-efficient. The rebricking will bring back the historic bricks and restore the street’s authentic character.
Tampa Bay Rays Choose Construction Firm For New Ballpark
The Tampa Bay Rays have chosen Minneapolis-based Mortenson Construction and its partners to oversee the construction of their new $1.3 billion stadium. Local firms Beck, Envision and The Orenda Collective will also work on the project. With a seating capacity of 30,000, the new stadium, located on the Historic Gas Plant District property, will serve as a community gathering place and will be completed January 2028.
