Tampa Has One of the Country’s Best Seafood Shacks

Big Ray’s Fish Camp, a Michelin Guide-recommended restaurant in 2025 and 2026, has been named one of the country’s best seafood shacks. The list featured 12 destinations, with Big Ray’s as the only Florida restaurant to make the cut. Other spots included Leon’s Oyster Shop in Charleston, South Carolina, Fishmonger in Atlanta and Automatic Seafood & Oysters in Birmingham, Alabama.

$70M Sports Complex Planned Near MOSI

As part of a $2 billion redevelopment plan for the land surrounding the Museum of Science & Industry, the Tampa Sports Authority has begun negotiations for a 178,000-square-foot indoor sports complex on Fowler Avenue near the University of South Florida. The facility will serve as the centerpiece of the mixed-use development, which is planned to include commercial, entertainment, restaurant, retail and high-end residential space.

Supernatural Food & Wine Plans Expansion

Following the buzz from the Tampa restaurant’s appearance on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” the team behind Supernatural Food & Wine is expanding in West Tampa. Roughly the same size as the original location, Supernatural Donut Factory, as it is being called, will serve as a production facility for the restaurant’s popular cinnamon-sugar sourdough doughnuts while also featuring a limited storefront. The exact West River location and opening timeline have not been announced.

BayCare Exploring Drone Deliveries

BayCare Health System is exploring a drone delivery network in partnership with San Francisco-based Zipline, the world’s largest autonomous delivery service approved by the Federal Aviation Administration, with plans to launch in 2027. The drones would transport laboratory specimens, prescriptions and other time-sensitive supplies between BayCare facilities and patients. An electric drone would pick up an order at a designated BayCare location before flying to its destination. While hovering about 300 feet above the ground, it would lower the delivery pod on a tether.

Stetson’s Tampa Heights Redevelopment

Bromley Cos., the New York developer behind Midtown Tampa, is planning to redevelop the 6.5-acre site of Stetson University’s College of Law campus in Tampa Heights. The mixed-use project will be completed in phases with no disruption to the university’s classes or operations. Construction is expected to begin in late 2027. Plans call for 664 multifamily units, 440,000 square feet of office space and 37,450 square feet of retail space. The new law center will be integrated into a hotel planned as part of the mixed-use development.
