It’s almost summer, which can only mean one thing — margarita time!

The Tampa Bay Margarita & Music Festival (formerly known as the Tampa Bay Margarita Festival) returns on Saturday, May 25, at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park. While the fest was previously held at Curtis Hixon Park, the move to the larger Riverfront Park will allow the festival to increase the number of margarita bars and food offerings, as well as host a bigger and more diverse musical lineup.

Grammy-winning R&B artist Nelly will headline the music portion of the fest with diamond hits like “Hot in Herre,” “Dilemma [feat. Kelly Rowland],” “Country Grammar,” “Ride Wit Me,” “Just a Dream” and “Cruise.”

The LA-based rock band Cold War Kids and Grammy-winning alternative band Soul Asylum will also be performing. Formed in 2004, Cold War Kids are best known for their hit singles “First,” which spent six weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs Chart, “Miracle Mile,” and “So Tied Up.” Soul Asylum found major success in the alternative and grunge scene of the early ’90s, scoring their biggest hit with the song “Runaway Train.”

More than 60 varieties of margaritas will be served up at this year’s Tampa Bay Margarita & Music Festival

More acts covering different musical genres will be announced soon, including a lineup of local bands.

Past Tampa Bay Margarita Festivals have drawn crowds of over 13,000 attendees. This year’s seventh-annual festival is expected to attract over 15,000 attendees from all over the country, bringing in a significant economic impact and activity to Downtown Tampa.

“The Margarita Festival is now a tradition for Tampa. People from all over the country and the state attend, get a room and spend money locally, creating a great economic impact for downtown on a normally dead weekend,” says Monica Varner, partner at Big City Events.

Festival attendees can also look forward to:

– More than 60 varieties of margaritas in a variety of flavors, from classic to extreme

– A curated food market to pair with margaritas

– Fireworks show

– Multiple sponsor activation areas

– VIP experiences

– Grand Tequila Tasting

Tickets are available for purchase at TampaMargaritaFest.com. General admission tickets are available for $20 in advance, and VIP Experience tickets start at $125.
