To help plan your calendar for 2022, we’ve rounded up some of the big, can’t-miss Tampa events scheduled. We’ve also included a fun fact about each one so you can learn something new.
Jan. 1, 2022 | Raymond James Stadium
A culmination of a week-long schedule of fun events throughout Tampa Bay, the Outback Bowl is a college football game presented by Outback Steakhouse that features teams from the SEC and Big Ten Conference or ACC.
Over the history of the bowl, fans have generated an estimated $1.1 billion of economic impact on the region.
Young @ Art
Jan. 22 – Feb. 22, 2022 | Tampa Museum of Art
This student exhibition is free to the public and highlights the work of talented young Tampa Bay artists in elementary and middle school.
Every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., the Tampa Museum of Art hosts Art on the House, offering pay-as-you-will admission to visitors.
Jan. 22 | Multiple locations
This free event includes an airshow, preschool stroll, a large parade along Bayshore Boulevard with marching bands and floats, an evening precision parachute jump show and a fireworks display to end the festivities.
A Tampa tradition since 1947, this is the largest children’s event in the United States.
Gasparilla Pirate Fest
Jan. 29, 2022 | Multiple locations
A Tampa classic since 1904, this event features the 106th Gasparilla Invasion, followed by a full schedule of pirate-themed events, including a parade and a street festival featuring food, live music and entertainment.
The average crowd at the main Parade of Pirates is over 300,000 people, making it the third-largest parade in the U.S.
Florida State Fair
Feb. 10-21, 2022 | Florida State Fairgrounds
About 500,000 people flock to the Florida State Fairgrounds every year for bright lights, midway rides and fun food during this 12-day statewide tradition.
The fair has run annually since 1904 and is the largest midway in North America.
Feb. 5-6, 2022 | Raymond James Stadium
This action-packed motorsports event is stopping in Tampa for two thrill-filled evenings of world-class drivers in massive trucks engaging in competitions of skill and speed.
Before the show, the Monster Jam Pit Party features chances to see the trucks up close, watch live pre-race interviews, participate in Q&As with the drivers and more.
Trevor Noah: Back to Abnormal
Feb. 12 | Yuengling Center
Emmy-award-winning late night comedian Trevor Noah is ready to crack Tampa up during a stop on his world tour.
The initial tour schedule opened in London with two sold-out shows.
Gasparilla Distance Classic
Feb. 26-27, 2022 | Downtown Tampa
Get your running shoes on and start training. There’s something for athletes of any level, with races including a 15K, 5K, half marathon, 5K walk and 5K stroller races.
An area tradition since 1978, the event has donated $3.9 million to charitable youth organizations and running programs in the Tampa Bay community.
Eric Church: The Gather Again Tour
March 5, 2022 | Amalie Arena
The reigning Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year returns to the road for an evening of country hits. The tour features an in-the-round stage, moving instrument sets, video walls and a suspended lighting rig.
Church performed the national anthem at the 2020 Super Bowl in Tampa.
Gasparilla Festival of the Arts
March 5-6, 2022 | Downtown Tampa
Every year, hundreds of artists transform downtown into a giant outdoor museum showcasing pottery, photography, painting, mixed media and beyond for this esteemed fine arts show.
Since 1970, this festival has been a community staple, attracting 250,000 people each year.
Gasparilla International Film Festival
March 10-13 | Multiple locations
This yearly celebration of film is a Tampa theater and arts community staple, with many opportunities to check out screenings, seminars and Q&As with film executives.
Tampa’s longest-running screen fest, GIFF was launched in 2006 and has hosted thousands of filmmakers, talent, producers and premieres.
Tampa Bay Beer Week
March 5-13, 2022 | Multiple locations
This annual celebration of the dynamic craft brewing scene around the “Gulp Coast” will feature festivals, brewing competitions, tastings and special beer releases.
Last year, 80 Tampa Bay breweries participated in the festivities.
Mayor’s River O’Green Fest
March 13, 2022 | Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
The City of Tampa’s official Saint Patrick’s Day event is centered around the Hillsborough River, which is turned green for the occasion. The all-ages party includes live entertainment, games, kids activities, the River O’Green Gallop, Irish faire and beer.
A leprechaun costume contest, family scavenger hunt and adult scavenger hunt all offer chances to win prizes.
Tampa Pride Diversity Parade
March 26, 2022 | Ybor City
Celebrate pride along the brick-lined streets of GaYbor City with this annual family-friendly event featuring floats, music and live performances.
Tampa’s first Pride Diversity Festival was held in 2015. The event usually draws a crowd of 70,000.
Tampa Bay AirFest
March 26-27, 2022 | MacDill Air Force Base
This free annual event is a chance to get up close with military aircraft and pilots. AirFest includes a variety of family-friendly activities and military and civilian flight performances.
The event will feature special flight performances by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.
Bern’s Winefest No. 25
April 3-10 | Bern’s Steak House & Haven
The area’s premier wine-tasting event, Winefest is eight days of culinary experiences from the area’s most talented chefs, complemented with the best wines from around the world.
Past events have included Bern’s Legacy Dinner, Bern’s Bordeaux Dinner, Haven Champagne Dinner and Haven Brunch.
John Mayer: Sob Rock Tour
April 5 | Amalie Arena
The Grammy Award-winning artist, celebrated songwriter and iconic guitar player is set to hit the stage in support of his eighth studio album, Sob Rock.
Mayer is also part of Dead & Company, a record-breaking stadium act that has completed six tours and played for 3.4 million fans.
Justin Bieber: Justice World Tour
April 9 | Amalie Arena
Bieber Fever returns to Tampa. Bieber is on tour in support of his eighth studio album, Justice. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has had over 4.5 billion streams since its release in March.
Bieber is the No. 1 artist on YouTube and Spotify, with over 70 million albums sold worldwide.
Kenny Chesney: Here & Now Tour

Grab your cowboy hat and boots. The country superstar is kicking off his 2022 tour in Tampa with an evening of hits.
Chesney’s first touring visit to Tampa was alongside Tim McGraw in 2001 for a co-headlined concert at Amalie Arena.
April 23-24 | Ybor City
Festa Italiana is an annual multi-day showcase of Italian culture and heritage. Visitors can enjoy everything from traditional Italian food to main stage entertainment, cooking demonstrations and a party tent.
Can’t-miss events include Bocce and Bellinis and Winefest Tampa, featuring over 100 wines for sample.
May 6-7, 2022 | Tampa Riverwalk
The Riverwalk becomes even more of a community gathering place during this two-day, free event. Riverfest includes family-friendly activities and events showcasing Tampa’s culture, music and cuisine.
Past Riverfests have included nighttime hot air balloons, Taste of the Riverwalk Food Festival, wiener dog races and a taco festival.
John Mulaney: From Scratch Tour

Mulaney is known as one of this generation’s best comedians. He has written on Saturday Night Live and has won a Primetime Emmy Winner for his 2018 special Kid Gorgeous.
Mulaney’s latest stand-up performances shed light on his recent rehab journey and journey to fatherhood.
Bill Burr (Slight Return) Tour

Bill Burr has achieved success in Film, TV, podcasting, and stand-up comedy. His 2019 stand-up special, Paper Tiger, earned him a nomination at the Grammys.
In a comedic bit on his Monday Morning, Bill Burr angered locals by calling Tampa the “city time forgot.”
Kane Brown: Blessed & Free Tour

Noted by Billboard as the “future of country,” Brown is joined by Walker Hayes and Raelynn. A three-time AMA award-winning artist, this will be his first time headlining a concert in Tampa.
Brown is the first artist in Billboard history to Top all five Billboard Country charts simultaneously.
May 17-22, 2022 | Straz Center for the Performing Arts
Based on the hit romantic film, the touring play stars Tony Award®-nominee Adam Pascal as Edward Lewis and rising star Olivia Valli as Vivian Ward.
Singer and guitarist Bryan Adams wrote the score for this theatrical adaptation.
Tampa Bay Margarita and Music Festival

Held over Memorial Day weekend, this festival is Florida’s largest celebration of margaritas and live music. Attendees can also look forward to games, shopping, food options and close out the evening with a fireworks show.
Past musical guests have included artists such as Nelly, The Wallflowers and Barenaked Ladies.
Dave Matthews Band

Dave Mattews Band, known for tight, engaging live shows where songs are played differently during each performance, is touring North America this summer with 46 shows planned.
Ardent environmentalists, Dave Matthews Band has pledged to plant a million trees in 2022.
Sunset Music Festival

A go-to destination for electronic dance music fans, the weekend is packed with top acts in EDM. Last year’s festival hosted 64,000 fans and 74 acts from across the country.
Fans at this energetic festival have been treated to surprise sets from acts including Bawdly and Blunts & Blondes.
11th Annual Cuban Sandwich Festival
May 29, 2022 | Centennial Park
Held in historic Ybor City, this festival offers food and drink vendors, live performances, and a Cuban sandwich contest. Datz was last year’s winner for the traditional Cuban category. cubansandwichfestival.com
Vendors have traveled from Atlanta, France and South Korea to compete for the official “Best Cuban Sandwich” title.
The Doobie Brothers: 50th Anniversary Tour

Known for an iconic catalogue of music that touches on classic rock, folk, rock and country, the band is joined by former bandmate Michael McDonald for one of the most widely anticipated tours of 2022.
The Doobie Brothers first performed in Tampa in 1975 and haven’t toured with McDonald for 25 years.
Coldplay Music of the Spheres World Tour

This worldwide concert tour in support of Coldplay’s ninth studio album is supported by H.E.R. and features extensive pyrotechnic, confetti visuals and xylobands for audience members to wear.
This tour marks Coldplay’s return from live shows after the band paused to ensure that their tours were more environmentally-friendly.
Rupi Kaur World Tour

A poet, artist, performer and published author, Rupi Kaur rose to fame after publishing her first poetry collection, milk and honey. Her works touch on love, loss, healing, femininity and migration.
Kaur published the #1 New York Times bestseller, milk and honey, when she was a 21-year-old college student.
The Masked Singer Live

This roadshow of the popular FOX Network reality television series invites the audience to guess who is singing inside the costume. The show features surprise celebrity hosts and guests.
Each tour stop also features a surprise local celebrity performance.
Dude Perfect: That’s Happy Summer Tour

Dude Perfect is a sports and comedy group with over 57 million YouTube Subscribers. They are known for their family-friendly brand of entertainment which include stunts, battles, and animated storytelling.
The group currently holds 21 Guinness World Records.
July 4th Boat Parade

The second annual parade begins in the Convention Center basin, travels up to Tampa Heights and ends at Sparkman Wharf, including two stations for the traditional blessing of the fleet. New this year are a digital poker run and a show by the Tampa Bay Water Ski Team.
Boats can compete for the “most patriotic boat” title in both small and large categories.
Boom by the Bay

The City of Tampa’s official schedule for its Independence Day celebration will be announced early next year. It typically includes fireworks displays at various locations, a waterfront boat parade, live entertainment, food, drinks and more.
Last year’s event featured a record six fireworks displays along Tampa’s downtown waterfront.

Josh Wolf is a stand-up comedian, writer, actor, and NY Times Bestselling author best known for his writing, stand-up performances and specials and appearances as a round table guest on E!’s Chelsea Lately and After Lately.

2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships

This competition determines the men’s and women’s junior and senior national champions for individuals and teams. It is one of the nation’s largest gymnastics gatherings and includes a number of Olympic competitors.
This is Florida’s first time hosting the championships since Jacksonville hosted in 1985.
Jack Johnson Summer 2022 Tour

Known for his acoustic pop and soft rock, singer and multi-instrumentalist Jack Johnson is joined by reggae musician Ziggy Marley for a chilled-out evening of performance.
With over 20 million albums sold worldwide, Johnson has not released a new studio album since 2017.
Tampa Home Show

A free event, guests can find builders, contractors, kitchens, baths, garden displays, landscapers, security systems and everything else needed for home building and remodeling.
The event also features live animal encounters for families that bring children.
The Black Keys: The Dropout Boogie Tour

American rock band The Black Keys are joined with support, Band of Horses, for their North American summer tour.
This tour is in support of the band’s eleventh studio album, Dropout Boogie, which sees collaborations from ZZ Top and Reigning Sound band members.
Santana + Earth, Wind & Fire: Miraculous Supernatural Tour

Guitar royalty Carlos Santana teams up with disco funk legends Earth, Wind and Fire for a can’t miss evening of outdoor boogie at the Midflorida Credit Union Amphitheatre.
Santana’s first performance in Tampa was in 1970. This will be Earth, Wind & Fire’s 10th time in the Bay since 1995.

The last time Rod Stewart performed in Tampa was in the brief British Invasion of Amalie Arena in 2017. Coheadlined by Cyndi Lauper, the pair were followed by Paul McCartney two days later and Roger Waters the next day.
Kevin Hart: Reality Check Tour

Shawn Mendez: Wonder – The World Tour

Shawn Mendes is a Grammy-nominated multi-platinum singer/songwriter known for his upbeat, catching, chart-topping pop music.
Known for selling out shows, Shawn Mendes sold out his last show at Amalie Arena in 2019.
Chris Stapleton: All-American Road Show

Stapleton’s tour stop features Elle King and Morgan Wade as support for a concert filled with country, rock and whiskey blues.
Stapleton has won five Grammys, seven ACM awards, and 10 CMA awards.
Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast World Tour

Supported by Within Temptation, English heavy metal band Iron Maiden returns to Tampa. The band has completed over 25 concert tours since 1980.
Iron Maiden’s first Tampa concert was during their seventh tour in 1988. They last played Tampa’s Amalie Arena in 2017.
Riverwalk Halloween Trick or Treat

This is the 6th annual Riverwalk trick or treat free community event. Over 50 treat stations will participate and all children in costumes and their families are invited to attend.
Stay after trick or treating to view the halloween lighted boat parade in support of the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
The Oddities and Curiosities Expo

This event showcases hand-selected vendors, dealers, artists and small businesses that supply all things weird. Guests can expect taxidermy, preserved specimens, original artwork, odd jewelry, skulls/bones and more.
This traveling expo also offers a traveling taxidermy class where students can build a two-headed duckling under the guide of an expert instructor.
Nov. 12, 2022 | Ben T. Davis Park
Veteran’s Run includes a 5k, 10k, half marathon and 16 mile race. The path is the paved Courtney Campbell Causeway Trail, which includes a picturesque view of Tampa Bay along the water for runners.
Proceeds from the race go towards the Stano Foundation, which supports American Armed Forces, Veterans, and their families.
Tampa YMCA Turkey Gobble

This annual Thanksgiving event includes a 1 mile, 5K and 8K run or walk. Stollers, dogs, and families are welcome.
All proceeds from this event support LIVESTRONG at the TMCA Cancer survivor program.
Nov. 2022 – Jan. 2023
Friends of the Riverwalk hosts this festive holiday event and invites visitors to enjoy an annual Christmas tree lighting, a holiday selfie station, festively decorated gazebos, floating lighted displays and more.
The Holiday Harbour Tree is 35’ tall and floats in the harbor for the duration of the holiday season.
Dec. 2-3, 2022 | Tampa Improv
King Bach is a comedian who rose to fame on Vine. He is now a popular Tik Tok creator and Youtuber with millions of subscribers. He also has starred in many comedy films and television shows.
King Bach had the title of being the most followed user on the now-defunct video platform, Vine.
Tampa Bay Wellness Festival

This event is put together by health and wellness enthusiasts and will involve fitness classes, local healthy food, fitness wear and health-focused vendors.

With the game falling just one day before Christmas Eve, local businesses and fan groups have a unique opportunity to host holiday parties or family gatherings, including pre-game tailgate parties and stadium seating options.
Last year’s in-state matchup resulted in UCF beating Florida 29-17 in front of a record-breaking bowl game attendance of 63,669 fans.
Dec. 28, 2022 – Jan. 22, 2023 | Straz Center for the Performing Arts
Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton is a popular musical about the life of Alexander Hamilton that has won Tony, Grammy, and Olivier Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Hamilton has received critical acclaim as one of the best and most culturally impactful plays of this generation and has broken multiple box office and award records since its debut.
Dec. 2022 – Jan. 2023
The Riverwalk holiday hunt is a mobile-based scavenger hunt hosted by Friends of the Riverwalk along the Tampa Riverwalk. The event is free to the public and requires downloading a mobile app to participate in puzzles, games, trivia and more.
Last year’s prizes for top scores included gift cards from Ulele, Columbia Restaurant, Zoo Tampa and others.
