Florida-based Richard Lowe is a contemporary artist whose work is an amalgamation of chemistry and fine art. He mixes raw pigments into clear resin, simultaneously infusing select metallic elements. As he builds layers of color, he drops a refined selection of chemicals into the composition to create an oil-to-water-like reaction, allowing him to separate mixed metallic elements into thin detailed cells and create visible depth, dimension and movement. Lowe holds a utility patent on this unique creative process. For the owner of this piece, Dr. Connor Oliveri of Elevate Health, Purple Rain not only exemplifies the distinctive characteristics of Lowe’s artistic identity but also evokes feelings of serenity and curiosity from patients at his Hyde Park office.
