If you live in Tampa, you’ve probably heard of “Weather Tite Mike” and his famous cookie, whether it be on TV or the radio.  Mike Hollander, owner and founder of Weather Tite Windows, is a Tampa community staple who cares as much about the city as he does his employees and his business.

Originally from Ohio, Mike started selling windows as a side job while he was in school. He learned how to go from “internship to entrepreneurship,” and when the Ohio-based company opened a location in Tampa, they soon realized it couldn’t operate successfully without him. He moved to Tampa to get it up and running, and after ultimately buying out the company and taking over the business himself, Mike bootstrapped it to its current status: one of the top window companies in Tampa Bay with national recognition.

“I had only $7,000 to my name, but I’d go to every home show in town to get our name out there. I worked the booth myself, sold the windows and even oversaw the installations myself,” says Hollander.

One thing that’s evident in the way he runs his business is how he cares for his employees.

“My favorite part of working in the industry is hiring people and teaching them no differently than how I was taught, and watching them prosper,” Hollander exclaims.  Sixteen people have worked at Weather Tite for over a decade, each earning a very generous anniversary bonus at their 10-year mark.

Mike’s dedication to customer satisfaction is equally important. National recognition has helped bring local awareness to the business, which exclusively sells PGT windows and doors. It’s this focus on quality service that makes them stand out.

“I live in South Tampa and have to show my face around here. If a customer wants to talk to me about a good or bad experience, they can walk right up to me at a coffee shop, and I want to listen to what they have to say. That matters to me.”

Mike Hollander is also a family man and a member of the local community. In addition to keeping Tampa residents safe behind quality windows and doors, he’s involved in many charities with his wife, Naseem. “Behind every good man is an even better woman. My wife motivates me, she encourages me, she gets our company involved in charities to give back locally.”  Naseem and Mike met in 2014, and from there she helped their family get involved in the community. Now they have 2 beautiful children and they want to continue to always give back.
