Havana meets Miami meets Los Angeles plus disco is how the brain trust behind the Ciccio Restaurant Group describes its newest concept, Luv Child. With a menu by CRG’s executive chef and partner Luis Flores based in Cuban cuisine with some Mexican and South American influences, the restaurant focuses on dishes like yellow rice and beans, mashed yucca in a tomato broth, tacos, sandwiches, salads, and shareable starters like baked nachos — many with Ciccio’s signature customizable and healthy spins. The Cuban inspiration extends to the coffee bar, along with the frozen and handcrafted cocktails. Ciccio Restaurant Group partner James Lanza says the team was on a research trip in New York City when the name Luv Child was pitched; it stuck. “It fit our intended design, which included ‘70s-type elements,” Lanza says. “We all felt Cuban food and vibes with some nostalgic ‘70s design would be fun.” Because it would not be a Ciccio concept without mimosas, Luv Child offers brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day.
