As the world turns its attention to the FIFA World Cup this summer, Tampa Bay’s soccer culture is preparing for its biggest moment yet. From waterfront stadium watch parties to downtown fan celebrations, local venues are transforming into spirited hubs for Team USA supporters.
Former Tampa Bay Rowdies player in 2011-2012 and 2013-2014, John Rodrigues, says the energy surrounding this year’s tournament feels different.
“Obviously, we’re all rooting for Team USA, but the beauty of the World Cup is how it brings everyone together,” Rodrigues says. “Tampa Bay has always had a passionate soccer community, and these watch parties are going to feel electric. Since my home team of Guyana is not playing, I will be cheering on Team USA and hope to catch a game at McDinton’s.”
Whether you’re looking for stadium-sized crowds, a neighborhood pub atmosphere or a lively late-night celebration, these local spots are ready for kickoff.
