Bio:
In 2006, Chas founded SoHo Capital with friend Adam Harden. The land developers specialize in residential multi-family homes, but it’s their ambitious Tampa Heights project that is really turning heads. The 49-acre plot of land along the Hillsborough River has an armory warehouse as its centerpiece. It’s slated to partially open to the public in 2015, bringing retail, entertainment, restaurants and more to the burgeoning part of Tampa.
Philanthropic efforts:
In addition to being on the board at Metropolitan Ministries and assisting the Hillsborough Education Foundation, Chas is also heavily involved in his family’s Bruck Family Foundation, which assists local charities.
When I’m not in the office:
I use my ATV to tour properties, but I also like taking it out and going off-roading.
Mentor/role model:
Long term land developer, Tom Murphy. If it weren’t for him giving me an opportunity, I wouldn’t be here.
Where do you take out-of-town guests to show off Tampa:
I take them to the Heights and Ybor City.
If you could nominate someone else for this recognition:
I’d choose my wife, Taryn Brock, who’s about to be the best mother in the world. She’s going to be the events coordinator at the Heights.
Motto:
Be honest and be true.
Best meal in town:
Ruth’s Chris has great steaks. edison Food and Drink Lab, Elevage and Rooster and the Till are some of our other favorites, too.
Best thing you can cook:
I’m pretty good on the grill.
Favorite movie:
Count of Monte Cristo
Favorite album:
Bob Marley’s Greatest Hits
Dream vacation:
My wife and I didn’t get a chance to do honeymoon. Our 1-year anniversary will be our honeymoon and probably be somewhere Mediterranean.
If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive:
Both my grandfathers, without a doubt. Both passed away before I was born.
