“The boring wood range hood or basic metal vent is a thing of the past,” says Lindsay Fournier, Vice President of Sales at Francois & Co. “We’re seeing metal hoods take on sculptural, modern shapes and a real appetite for mixing metals. The range hood is the anchor of the kitchen, the piece that sets the tone for the whole room.”
Today’s trends are also embracing warmer tones. “There’s a real shift back toward warmth,” Fournier says. “Beige and cream stones are replacing cooler palettes, while brass, bronze, copper and warm pewter are all having a moment.”
For fireplaces, Fournier recommends Scagliola stone, a decorative technique dating to the 16th century that offers a wide range of colors and finishes. Those looking to make a bold statement are also gravitating toward metal mantels and hand-carved statement marble, proving even the most practical home features can become works of art.
