Tucked away near the serene shores of Anna Maria Island, this four-bedroom sanctuary, spanning three stories, embodies the creative vision of Laura Freeman, homeowner and interior designer at Merits Design Group. Inspired by the coastal landscape, Freeman’s design palette mirrors the hues of the nearby dunes, driftwood and Gulf waters, celebrating nature’s vibrant tapestry.
Central to the home’s ethos is sustainability, evident in its use of recycled materials like cardboard light fixtures, reclaimed wood accents and FSC certified flooring. Freeman’s fondness for vintage and salvaged pieces lends a unique charm, with each element reflecting a story of its own. From a reclaimed door from a Georgian estate in the laundry room to planks salvaged from a New England estate adorning the ceilings, every detail adds warmth and character.
In addition to its coastal influence, the home pays homage to Freeman’s global travels, with nods to her Greek adventures evident in the rooftop yoga area embellished with oversized olive oil jars. Embracing the open-air living concept observed in Santorini, the home exudes an effortless elegance, with white linens, stucco, and textured accents.
While Freeman and her husband are now empty nesters, thoughtful design choices were made to accommodate family gatherings and create lasting memories in the company of their beloved goldendoodle, Zoe.
From the rooftop deck offering panoramic sunset vistas to the cozy nooks inspired by travels afar, this abode seamlessly blends luxury with sustainability, offering a tranquil retreat where every moment feels like a vacation.
