This Spanish Mediterranean-style home in Tampa’s Virginia Park was originally built in 2016. When interior designer Audra Samnotra of Social Swan Decor took on the project, her goal was to elevate the existing interiors by honoring the original architectural elements—such as the cabinetry, flooring and millwork—while adding thoughtful touches that refreshed the space in a cohesive, elegant way.

Two years ago, a pediatric neurosurgeon and her physician husband traded their Seminole Heights bungalow for a spacious two-story Spanish and Mediterranean-style home in South Tampa’s Virginia Park. Initially drawn to the home’s arched doorways, terracotta tones and sunlit interiors, its lack of cohesion and character didn’t make the family of four feel at home.  Audra Samnotra of Social Swan Decor would quickly change that.

Honoring the home’s Mediterranean roots, a palette of blues, reds, and earthy terracottas set the tone across the five-bedroom home. Samnotra layered in organic textures—bouclé fabrics, rustic wood, ceramic planters—and vintage-inspired rugs, smoked glass lighting and collected treasures. Among the standout pieces: a hand-carved candle stand, a Moroccan bone-inlay mirror that echoes the home’s arches and a live-edge dining table the couple searched long and hard for. The art centerpiece—a striking mixed-media piece by a German artist—anchors the dining room.

The living room, now bathed in warm, layered light, is the heart of the home. Samnotra preserved the romantic architecture—arches, artisan finishes—while scaling up lighting and materials to match its grandeur. The result is a balance of Old World craftsmanship with timeless materials to develop an interior design approach that embraces tradition and layers in fresh, modern touches.

The living room features a large Loloi rug, a Currey & Company lamp and a Regina Andrew chandelier. A TV console with a diamond-pattern detail from Hooker Furniture and a wood-and-bone inlay Gabby mirror add texture.

The entryway supports the homeowners’ no-shoe policy with storage lockers. A Pottery Barn light fixture illuminates a personalized gallery wall highlighting the family’s time in Texas and other memories.
While the kitchen’s color and architecture remained untouched, vintage touches—like a copper pot and wooden cutting board—were added throughout.
The dining room centers around a wood table—the first piece the homeowners bought together—lit by a Currey & Company chandelier and grounded by a Jaipur Living rug. A bar cart anchors the space, accented by a handmade Matt Alford Studio sconce and custom art from Wendover Art Group.
This Universal credenza blends old and new, displaying an antique 1800s candlestick alongside artwork by an independent artist in Berlin.

The playroom focuses on texture and color, featuring storage solutions from a professional organizer designed for function first. The wallpaper, installed by Walls Services, is Clare V.’s “Pop Dots” in Marigold. Scalloped curtains from West Elm and a playful rug from Ruggable echo the room’s whimsical shapes and patterns.
