In an upscale neighborhood tucked away in South Tampa, Michelle Miller aspired to bring her client’s dream home to life. As successful business owners, they wanted their home to reflect the feel and style of a resort, much like The Breakers Hotel. The result is a sophisticated six bedroom, five bath, 8,977 square-foot Mediterranean-style home reflecting a sense of timelessness and sophistication.
Because the homeowners spend a lot of time entertaining for business and pleasure, the kitchen space was a top priority. “We incorporated two kitchens into the home and one outside,” explains Miller. “The second interior kitchen was designed for prep as well as a place for private chefs that frequent the home.”
While home design can be a herculean task, Miller’s assignment was a joy because of the client’s warmth, sense of fun and openness to new ideas. “She has exemplary taste. It’s always enjoyable to design with a client that appreciates quality and design.”
Besides featuring three kitchen spaces, notable features of the home include a four-car garage, three indoor fireplaces with a separate fireplace in the outdoor cabana, game room with a bourbon bar and a free-standing copper tub in the master bath which Miller says is, “a show-stopper!”
The blue ottomans and chairs from Four Hands add a pop of color to the space while the fireplace wall serves as the focal point of the room. The ceiling lights from Visual Comfort are not only functional, they’re fashionable. The clear side tables from Vanguard and the table lamps from Surya help tie the room together. The main kitchen pulls focus from the neutral walls and cabinets with a Bluestar range in black and a black and gold Vent-A-Hood above. “Colorful ranges are on trend right now but not considered ‘trendy.’ They’re a classic European look that stands the test of time,” Miller says. Two indoor kitchens were incorporated into the home as the owners do a lot of entertaining. The second interior kitchen was designed as a prep kitchen. Blue cabinets and wallcoverings were added to enhance the space. The free-standing copper tub in the primary bathroom is a showstopper against the SICIS tile and Kalista plumbing fixtures. The primary bedroom blends creamy neutral colors like the ivory wallcovering from Arte with touches of purple in the York wallcovering, orchid and headboard. The rec room appeals to the eyes with Elysium Shell Blue Subway tile from Ceramic Matrix and jewel-toned lounge chairs from Caracole. The game room is a space purely for entertaining and features a pool table, bar and separate seating area with a linear fireplace. The bathroom features a beautiful combination of Artistic Tile Jazz Glass in Ombre Blue Fan and Seneca Blue Subway Tile from Ceramic Matrix.
